If you ever visit Australia, we (my partner and I) highly recommend the Peninsula Boutique Hotel in Port Douglas. They greeted us by name upon arrival. A cool towelette and fruit juice at the desk was offered. The room has a kitchenette, beach view, large tub & separated shower, and the bedroom had sliding shutters to close it off from the living room. Breakfast was included in our rate. Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast and the waiter was very attentive and quite handsome. Every morning we had notes slipped under the door; reminding us of event pick up times, Port Douglas offerings, etc. The front desk manager, Kylie, spent about 20 minutes with us after my lost luggage arrived. She wanted to make sure our next carrier, Jet Star, would not charge us for the 3rd bag. She actually healed the stress we encountered over this situation in Sydney when our luggage was lost. Kylie even walked us out to our shuttle when we left. It is a very high touch personal service venue. The best hotel I can ever remember staying in all my travels.

I have just returned from Port Douglas after spending a week in this wonderful hotel. Whilst the hotel itself is comfortable, the most impressive part of the stay was the friendliness of the staff - Lee, Elena (?), Aaron and Steve. They ensured that our time with them was most enjoyable. Our main reason for going there was to celebrate a friend's 70th Birthday. We dined there on the night and were set up outside by the pool with our own waiter (Aaron). This was fantastic as we were away from other diners which meant we did not annoy them or vice versa. The "Birthday Girl" was ecstatic!! The location of the hotel is also impressive, just off the Beach and away (but not too far away) from the rest of Port Douglas main shopping precinct.
